Mamas' Drama is inspired by a true story.  Four generations experience the secrets and lies that create the "mama's baby, daddy's maybe" condition, which occurs when the father's identity is questionable. The story begins in Harriman, Tennessee in 1929 when Josephine, who is approaching the tender age of eight, is told that the daddy she dearly loves and adores is not her biological father.  The family moves to Columbus, Ohio where Josephine grows up and marries George.  Nine children are born during this marriage, but the paternity of two is questionable.  Secrets and lies become a way of life for Josephine.

Suzette, who has questionable paternity, searches for the truth about her father.  Josephine deniesthat she is a result of an extramarital affair, but family and others around her tell her otherwise.  Suzette is determined to break the "mama's baby, daddy's maybe" generational curse.   Suzette has a son, Devon, who becomes a single father while in college.

This story will propel anyone who is directly or indirectly affected by the "mama's baby, daddy's maybe" dilemma to look closely at their own lives.  Know that you are not alone, and healing can begin. The intent of the book is to promote acceptance, forgiveness and healing.

The plays, Mamas' Drama and Suzette's Saga, also written by Nanette Marie, are adapted from this book.  They have been performed in Columbus, Ohio and various national theatre festivals since 2011.  The book, Mamas' Drama, was released April 24, 2014 and is available in paperback, e-book and audiobook at Amazon, Audible, iTunes and Barnes and Noble.
